Happy Birthday Count Von Zeppelin (the original)

Journal Entry: Tue Jul 8, 2008, 8:13 AM
  • Mood: Wow!
  • Listening to: Flight of the Valkyries

  • Watching: The skies
  • Playing: Nothing
  • Eating: A doughnut
  • Drinking: Cherry Coke
While reading today's newspaper, a section that contained trivial facts stated that today is the 170th birthday of Count Ferdinand Graf Von Zeppelin, one of the great pioneers of aviation and the man for whom I named my DA account after (due to his work in the lighter-than-air field :D ). So happy birthday to the original king of the titans of the sky.:cake:

Curse the series of events that lead to them being phased out.. its only a giant bag of the most flamable gas.. if things had gone better we could of had flying battleships by now.. that would be awesome..

alternitively. the same effect of my storylines can be attened by taping ballons to a actionfigure, using it to throw flaming tennis balls at a frog or large newt. while playing a kamelot album through a amp stack.

I am not sure if he was involved, but my favorite lighter than air -ship was ZSR-5, the uss Macon built by the goodyear-zeppelin corp. of ohio in 1933. even though it was 20 ft shorter than the hindenburg, it still holds the record for largest -helium- inflated airship. thats important- because it was non-flammable, and i'm not sure, but I think the infern- ahem, I mean hindingburg was.

good for aviation inflators!

O Spirit, whom the Father sent To spread abroad the firmament.
Oh wind of heaven, by Thy might Save all who dare the eagle's flight.
And keep them by thy watchful care From every peril in the air. - Naval Hymn.
